NEW DELHI, INDIA – Jaydin Blackwell didn’t just win his second gold medal of the 2025 World Para Athletics Championships tonight, he set another world record in the process. In the T38 (movement and coordination in the lower trunk and legs) 400m, Blackwell got out hard at the gun. The 21-year-old led the one-lap race wire-to-wire and crossed the line in 48.00, breaking the world record he set back in May by 0.26 seconds.

“I’m coming home being a six-time world champion,” said Blackwell, who also won the 100m earlier this week. “As I get older, I believe I can go even faster.”

Ryan Medrano, who won a silver medal in the 100m, finished fourth in tonight’s 400m in a time of 50.09.

Earlier in the session, Annie Carey got herself an early birthday present in the women’s T44 (lower leg impairment) 100m. Carey, who turns 21 tomorrow, stormed to a 13.45 to win her first global medal in her first ever world championship.

“It was a good feeling. I came here wanting to do my best and gave it my all out there,” said Carey, who holds American, world and Paralympic records in the long jump. “Last 100 of the season. Good way to end it.”

The silver streak continued for Taylor Swanson this morning. Swanson claimed her third consecutive global silver in the women’s T37 (coordination on one side) 100m, running 13.27 to add to her collection which already includes medals from the 2024 World Championships and the 2024 Paralympics.

“I was just trying to work on my race plan of being patient and not forcing anything,” said Swanson. “I feel like I did a pretty good job of being patient, especially in the start of the race.”

Other finals tonight included the women’s T63 (absence of leg above the knee) 100m which featured Nicole Lambert-Beirne finishing in fifth with a time of 15.42 and Lindi Marcusen in sixth in 15.64. In the women’s T64 (absence of leg below the knee)100m, Beatriz Hatz finished fifth in 13.28 and Sydney Barta took eighth in 13.83.

In qualification rounds today. Kerragan Johsnon advanced to the final of the T47 (Limited mobility in the arm or absence of limb) 400m.
